I also poo poo’d (I’m English) Grammarly for a while for the same reasons as you and am now also eating my words! But I did want to look at Hemingway on the recommendation of a colleague. I think I will stick with Grammarly for now. Thanks again.

I was going to suggest the same. I have Grammarly and it is beneficial. Things do not have to be either / or. Sometimes both/ and will work just fine!

Yesterday I tried Hemingway for the first time. The colours for me helped and I improved some of my writing. In Hemingway, I then turned Grammarly and it showed more errors. Using the 2 together may help, but I need more testing.

Hemingway is cute, but when I ran a paragraph from one of Ernest Hemingway’s works through it, the writing was rated as “Poor.”

I’m not dissing them. For some writers, they will be very helpful. For others, not so much.

You’re right, Grammarly can do much more day to day. I’ll have to look into Scrivener more 😊
