This birthday cake was given to Harry Potter on his eleventh birthday on 31 July 1991 by Rubeus Hagrid. It was a large, sticky chocolate cake with "Happy Birthday Harry" written on it in green icing. In the early morning, Hagrid, feeling a bit peckish, said that he wouldn't say no to a bit of it, there being some leftover.

• Small changes were made to the cake in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone:
  • Dudley Dursley was given a pig's tail, as he ate the cake without Harry's permission when Hagrid threatened his father.
  • The cake is round and has the writing in green icing like in the book, but is spelled out as "Happee Birthdae Harry". While the book specifies the cake as chocolate with icing of the same flavour, the film cake has pink icing and its flavour is not mentioned.
• The cake as appeared in the film, while diverting from book canon, has been relatively commonly featured in merchandise and licenced books and games.
  • It is a selectable option for club badge in Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells.
  • Limited items in events:
    • 20 Years of Movie Magic celebration in Japan:
      • Collaborated with LEGS Company, the cake was part of the dessert menu in BOX cafe&space.
      • A mug and a reusable shopping bag for the "Magical Coffee Time" event, which was a collaboration between Harry Potter (website) and Tully's Coffee.
        • Tully's Coffee also sold soufflé versions of the cake during the span of the event.
